Developing Opportunities at Work

Other Cox training and development programs are aimed at creating a work place where a wide range of opportunities are available to every employee and where employees are enabled to succeed in reaching their personal and professional goals:

  • Mentoring Program – By pairing emerging leaders with experienced leaders within the company, this program helps employees maximize their potential and enhance their leadership and development skills. Mentees benefit from a faster learning curve, a broader personal network and new avenues for personal growth. Read about one Cox employee’s experience in the mentoring program
  • Diversity Training – Working with the respected consulting firm of Gardenswartz & Rowe, Cox provides diversity training to employees in order to continue to create a climate where employees are treated with respect and given opportunities to grow both personally and professionally. Known for creating organizational environments that welcome and include everyone while diminishing and excluding no one, Gardenswartz & Rowe’s training programs are helping Cox employees understand that diversity goes beyond race and gender through exercises designed to guide each person in understanding his or her attitudes, beliefs, and expectations about others. The program then leads teams of employees to find ways to better understand and include more people in their day-to-day work.

Developing On-the-Job Success

Cox provides job-related training to employees on a regular basis, affording them opportunities to improve work and communication skills, learn new skills and move through the organization:

  • Customer Contact Training - Over 18,000 of Cox's 20,000 employees are in positions with regular customer contact such as customer service representatives, field sales representatives and retail office employees. Each of these employees receives up to 200 hours of training as a new hire, learning about the tools available to assist them in meeting the needs of our customers, how to perform their jobs safely, technical skills and product information. The average customer contact employee at Cox receives up to 50 hours of advanced training each year, designed to increase their knowledge and skills base and support their career path.
